03 / The first steps

What to expect.

  1. Step 01

    An initial session

In the initial session we will spend time clarifying your issues and what you hope to gain from counselling or psychotherapy. Together we will decide whether you could benefit from some sessions.

  2. Step 02

    Six sessions, then a review

Usually I offer six sessions which are generally weekly, after which we review progress and decide if longer term could be of benefit.

  3. Step 03

    No obligation to continue

The initial session gives you the opportunity to meet me and to find out whether working with me might benefit you. Attending an initial session does not mean you are obliged to continue with further sessions.

05 / Good to know

A little more
detail.

Counselling or psychotherapy,
supervision, my qualifications
and professional codes.

Counselling or Psychotherapy?

Counselling is generally shorter term and often aimed towards a specific goal. Psychotherapy is generally longer term and seeks to look in depth at patterns of behaviour and ways of feeling that may have their origins in childhood.

Supervision

Supervision provides a safe and supportive space for practitioners to reflect on their practice. I see supervision as a co-operative and facilitating process which enables the supervisee to feel supported in their work and to develop and grow professionally. I have completed further training in supervision with Metanoia in London.

Professional qualifications

  • I have completed an eight year diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy from The Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BCPC) which is a training and accredited member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, (UKCP).
  • I have also completed 3 years training in Gestalt Psychotherapy with the Gestalt Centre London
  • I have completed Level 1 training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
  • 1 year Training in Supervision at Metanoia, London

  • I have been in private practice for over 20 years.
  • I work in accordance with the code of ethics of BACP and BCPC.
